Faces made of water and accidents

I'm Tomasz, a self-taught illustrator who paints loose, moody, slightly unpredictable portraits where tiny details sit right next to puddles of pure color. Some of them turn into galaxies, some into rainbows; all of them start as a mess on wet paper.

HOW I PAINT

I let the water make half the decisions

After ten years of painting, I still start every portrait without knowing exactly how it'll end.
The control comes later. First, the paint gets to wander.

about me

Tomasz Mro

I'm a Polish-born illustrator living in the UK, and I'm a bit obsessed with mixing tiny details with loose, emotional, unpredictable watercolor.

I'm completely self-taught. I dropped out of college, never looked back, and slowly figured out my own way of painting by trusting my gut and letting the water make some decisions for me. Best thing I ever did.

Since then my work has hung in galleries around the world, including two solo shows. I've worked with big brands and sent originals and thousands of prints to collectors all over the place.
